The course web site is designed to aid students enrolled in the Survey of Art History 1 (AH 1541). This site contains, among other things, images of monuments that are intended to augment those pictured in your textbook. In some cases the same monuments are shown from different angles or perspectives. In other cases monuments have been selected that are not included in the text. You, the students, are encouraged to spend time studying these images as a way of improving visual acuity. By examining previously unseen works that share the same formal characteristics as those discussed in class you will gain a more complete understanding of the formal trends governing the various stylistic periods covered in this course. The images provided on this site should also be helpful for your group research projects.

Unit instructions (for paper and presentation), unit bibliography, and course style sheet will be posted on this site.  Please be sure to read the style sheet carefully for citation information and common grammatical and stylistic errors.

The study images posted on this site illustrate alternate views of some monuments from your text and additional monuments for comparison. To enlarge the study images posted on this site you must click on the thumbnail image. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to dowload most course information. If it is not already installed on your computer you can download for free by clicking on the Adobe icon.
